The energy response of a CsI(Tl) scintillation detector with photodiode readout to energetic light charged particles

Description
Using the photodiode readout technique, the energy response of Cs(Tl) scintillation detector to the energetic p, d, t, 3He and alpha particles, which were produced in the reaction of 50A MeV 12C on 197Au target, has been studied. The results show that the response to 3He and alpha particles with kinetic energy lower than 100 MeV is almost linear, while an important nonlinearity is presented for the protons. This nonlinearity increases with the proton energy and can only be neglected for energies lower than 10 MeV. For d and t particles, the response function is similar to that of the protons, except that the approximate linear region extents to higher energy range
