Characterization of a new Gamma ray glass dosimeter

Creators

Description

A window glass has been studied to evaluate their potential as radiation-sensitive materials in gamma high-dose dosimetry. The main dosimetric characteristics: reproducibility, dose rate effect, temperature during irradiation, post -irradiation stability in different conditions, global uncertainty evaluation, calibration curves between 1 and 87 kGy and reuse. Measurements were carried out in term of specific absorption using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer and a thickness gauge. The results show that this glass presents adequate dosimetric properties for high doses and it may be used for dosimetry in the main radiation processes if the fading is taken into account with special treatment.
