Unit startup and shutdown automation
Description
The control systems design criteria for the Shidongkou Unit 1 and 2 Power Plant in China required utilizing the capabilities of microprocessor-based systems in the development of an automatic startup and shutdown program. This paper describes the development of flowcharts, operator guides, and graphic displays for this program; the program structure and its interface with boiler and turbine controls, burner management system, boiler feedwater pumps control, and balance-of-plant sequence control systems; and provisions made for the operator to initiate, hold, or terminate the program
