Studies on hydrogen absorption and desorption with particle beds of some zirconium alloys

  • 1. Dept. of Nuclear Engineering, Kyushu Univ., Hakozake, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka 812 (Japan)

Description

This paper reports on characteristics of absorption and desorption of hydrogen that are experimentally and numerically investigated with a particle bed for elementary zirconium, and zirconium alloys such as ZrV2, Zr(V0.83Fe0.17)2 and ZrNi for the recovery and the storage of hydrogen isotopes from inert gas mixtures in a primary exhaust fuel and blanket loop in a D-T fusion reactor. In conclusion, absorption and desorption rates of hydrogen were found to be very fast enough for the absorption method to be used as a hydrogen recovery process in the fuel cycle of a D-T fusion reactor
