В течение последнего десятилетия наблюдается отчетливая динамика значительного роста болезней органов пищеварения в общей структуре заболеваемости у участников ЛПА на ЧАЭС. По уровню распространенности они уступают лишь сердечно-сосудистым, эндокринным и нервным болезням. В общей структуре заболеваемости на их долю приходится от 10 до 30%. По данным ВЦЭРМ МЧС России, распространенность болезней органов пищеварения в 3,7 раза превышает аналогичный показатель для населения Российской Федерации. В 4-8% случаев гастроэнтерологические заболевания являются причиной инвалидизации населения.
