The uranium market: where is it going?
Description
Data on projected world uranium supply and demand balance over the period 1993 to 2005 are presented. These show very little growth in the international natural uranium market in the next 10 to 15 years; Canada and Australia will be the major producers. However, an increasing supply of highly-enriched derived low-enriched uranium is expected from the dismantling of nuclear weapons in the USA and the newly Independent States, principally Russia, and this will be the biggest influence on the market in the next few years. Projected net requirements are expected to exceed total projected supply until the next century with the shortfall being made up from the civilian inventories in the Western nations. (UK)
