An ignition criterion for isobarically compressed, inertially confined D-T plasmas
Description
Ignition of an initially isobaric D-T plasma, with a central hot spot, is found to depend on three dimensionless quantities, related to thermonuclear energy production, α-particle transport, and thermal conduction, respectively. Numerical simulations show that an ignition criterion of practical use can be written in terms of two of these quantities. (orig.)
