Classification of carbon and low alloy steels for electroslag welding
Description
Problem of electroslag welding (ESW) of carbon and low alloy steels (chromium, alloyed with manganese, cerium, nickel, molybdenum) is considered. It is shown that required viscosity of welded joints produced by electroslag welding is reached due to thermal cycles with cooling duration in the intervals of austenite phase transformations (tsub(8-5)), corresponding to characteristic cooling duration up to pearlite formation in structure (tsub(p)). Classification of carbon and low alloy steels intended for ESW, depending on tsub(p) and tsub(8-5) relation, is suggested
