Description

This paper examines the causal structure and some global properties of a hybrid Schwarzschild-Friedman space-time through suitable constructed Penrose-like diagrams. An invariant characterization of the matching between Schwarzschild and Friedman space-times is presented and some coordinate choices are discussed for the E-S model. The optical and kinematical effects near the Schwarzschild-Friedman interface are examined and the k=1 E-S model is used to test the effect of cosmological inhomogeneities on the isotropy of the background radiation. Some possible global configurations are exhibited which are locally equivalent to the closed k=1 E-S model
