Neutron scattering study of some pyridinium salts
- 1. Uniwersytet Adama Mickiewicza, Poznan (Poland). Inst. Fizyki

Description
The results of neutron diffraction and inelastic neutron scattering studies of the phase transitions of pyridinium salts (C5H5NH)+X-, X = I, Br, BF4 are reported. The neutron diffraction study shows that during the transitions from phase I to phase II rhombohedral unit cells transform into monoclinic ones. According to the inelastic incoherent neutron scattering and earlier NMR study a model of pyridinium ion reorientation in low and high temperature phases is proposed. (author)
