Orbital anisotropy in the exchange interaction in rare earth compounds and dilute magnetic alloys
Description
The anisotropic exchange interaction arising from orbital degeneracy has been extensively studied in the interpretation of the experimentally observed results such as the optical spectra and the EPR measurements of rare earths in insulators and in magnetic alloys. The effects of the anisotropic exchange between the Eu-Eu ions in Eu2O3, Eu-Fe in EuGaG:Fe, and between the conduction electrons and the localized magnetic impurities of Er and Dy in Pd are studied
