Solid and liquid radioactive wastes
Description
The problems raised by the solid and liquid radioactive wastes from the CEA nuclear centres are briefly exposed. The processing methods developed at the Saclay centre are described together with the methods for the wastes from nuclear power plants and reprocessing plants. The different storage techniques used at the La Hague centre are presented. The production of radioactive wastes by laboratories, hospitals and private industry is studied for the sealed sources and the various radioactive substances used in these plants. The cost of the radioactive wastes is analysed: processing, transport, long term storage

On expose brievement les problemes poses par les dechets solides et les effluents liquides radioactifs produits par les Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires du CEA. On decrit les methodes de traitement et de conditionnement mises en oeuvre dans le Centre de Saclay. Puis on donne un apercu sur les dechets produits par les Centrales Nucleaires et les Usines de retraitement et sur le conditionnement de ces dechets. On evoque ensuite les differents modes de stockage au Centre de la Manche. Le cas des autres producteurs de dechets (Laboratoires, hopitaux et industrie privee) est etudie tant pour les sources scellees que pour les substances radioactives diverses utilisees dans ces entreprises.
