Programme of development and production of radioimmunoassay kits at the Central Institute of Isotope and Radiation Research

Radioimmunoassay kits already under production in the GDR are presented; Thyro-Gap, Thyro-Con, Thyro-KT, Vitamin B12 and T-3-RIA, and in addition the Insulin-RIA from the Central Institute of Nuclear Research, Rossendorf. At present, two main trends of development are to be noted: laboratory diagnostics of the thyroid gland and determination of sex hormones. The coverage of thyroid-gland tests was increased in 1978 by the production of a T4-RIA, and in 1979 by the introduction of the TSH-RIA kit. In the field of analysis of sex hormones, the production of testosterone RIA has been started in 1978. Kits for progesterone, estradiol and estriol are under development. It is worth-while to note that the development is aimed at labelling steroids preferably with 125I. By the beginning of the eighties, kits for cortisol, digoxin and other steroids will be prepared. The development of a LH test was completed, its production startet in 1978. As far as possible, kits are characterized with regard to their application and materials. (author)
