Evidence from x-ray, 3/2ω0, and 2ω0 emission for laser filamentation in a plasma
- 1. Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C. 20375
Description
With long-pulse (4 nsec), moderate-intensity (approx. =1013 W/cm2) Nd-laser irradiation of flat targets, time-integrated images of (3/2)ω0 and 2ω0 emission reveal filaments along the laser axis. Combined with fine-scale structure found in x-ray images, these filaments suggest self-focusing of hot spots in the incident beam
