Correlation of the solar cosmic rays with the nitrate abundance in the Greenland ice

Description
Analysis of results of a year's content of nitrates in the Greenland ice are presented. The results are based on the data of the Greenland expedition in 1992. It is noted that the nitrate content in the ice-snow blanket agrees with the solar activity during the 19-, 20 and 21th solar cycles. The solar proton events with great energy release (the fluence of protons at E > 10 MeV is 1010 particles/cm2) manifest themselves in the form of maxima in the nitrate data
