Description

Method for determining ion temperature in the tokamak plasma, applying measurements on the wings of Doppler broadenings of Hα and Hβ hydrogen Balmer line contours, is considered. Its feature consists in the observation of luminescence along a tangential line, tangent to the toroidal discharge axis in combination with hydrogen pulsed leak-in to the cross section through which the observation line passes. The effective temperature is determined from the bend of spectral contour wing, plotted in logarithmic coordinates. The calculations, conducted using a simplified model, have shown that the effective temperature, determined in such a way, differs from the central ion temperature by less than 20%. Ion temperature measurements are conducted in various operation modes of FT-1 tokamak by the method mentioned. Measurement results agree with the data, obtained by recharge atom analysis method
