Influence of the media chemical nature on the mean free path of electrons

Description
The inelastic mean free path of 188 eV electrons λ in amorphous monoatomic layers of B, Al, Ti, Cr, Cu, La, Gd, Dy have been obtained from the relative attenuation of Mo MNV Auger signal. Increasing of an effective density of atoms' valence electrons results in the decrease of the λ. A simple formula for evaluation of λ is proposed
