Description
The latest boiling water reactor technology is incorporated into the BWR system, the BWR/6, now being installed at the Grand Gulf 1 and 2 sites. The reactor and its components are described. Special features include the largest sized BWR/6 pressure vessels; a pressure suppression containment that provides a large heat sink as well as a double barrier to fission product release, and new and improved servicing and fuel handling equipment.
