Effect of dislocation structure on creep and fracture of metals and alloys. 2

  • 1. AN SSSR, Sverdlovsk. Inst. Fiziki Metallov

Description

The creep mechanism is characterized by its dependence on stress and may be divided into three main regions: a) the diffusion mechanism (creep rate proportional to stress σ), b) the mixed mechanism (creep rate proportional to σ/sup n/), and c) the pure shear mechanism (creep rate proportional to exp σ). The mechanism of creep of metals and alloys under deformation condition is compared to the creep under reactor irradiation. Effect of the stacking fault energy on swelling during reactor irradiation and of small amounts of impurities on swelling and creep rate are investigated. The diffusion processes exert a strong effect on swelling and creep rate
