Contribution of secondary reactions to the production of cumulative protons in π-C interactions at 5 GeV/c

  • 1. Erevan State University

Description

The contribution of possible internal secondary nuclear processes to the production of cumulative protons in π-C interactions at 5 GeV/c is considered. They include interactions between secondary mesons and nucleons in systems with a small number of nucleons, and the interaction between Δ-resonances and the nucleons in the nuclear interior. It is shown that the contribution of such secondary processes accounts for approximately one-half of the inclusive cross section for the production of cumulative protons with momenta p/sub p/≤0.75 GeV/c
