A high intensity heavy-ion recoil-target system
Description
The paper describes a target system to be used with heavy-ion beams of high intensities. The principle of gas cooling is explained and the conditions for optimum cooling are evaluated. A theoretical and experimental comparison is made between different cooling gases, window materials, cooling gas temperatures and flows. (Auth.)
