Lead mat to shield gamma rays
Description
A mat is manufactured by filling a sac of flexible, impervious material (e.g. PVC) with lead shot, then sealed and provided with a value through which it can be evaluated. By placing the mat around the object to be shielded, and evaluating it to a certain extent, it can be shaped, giving a variable thickness shield of sufficient rigidity. (RW)

Eine Matte wird hergestellt, in dem man einen Sack aus flexiblem, undurchdringlichen Material (z.B. PVC) mit Bleischrot fuellt, ihn zuschweisst und mit einem Ventil versieht, durch das er evakuiert werden kann. Die Matte wird um das abzuschirmende Teil herumgelegt. Sie wird durch Evakuierung formbar; die Schichtdichte laesst sich variieren und bietet eine Abschirmung mit ausreichender Steifheit. (RW)Files
