Scrape-off layer asymmetries in poloidal divertors

Description
Experiments on poloidal divertors such as PDX, T12 and ASDEX have demonstrated that the scrape-off layer plasma in these machines lacks the expected symmetry with respect to the horizontal and vertical axes of the plasma cross-section. As a result, the load profiles on each of their divertor plates are different. In this paper, we analyse the role of the drift orbits with their horizontal shifts in the inducement of these asymmetries. (orig./AH)
