Effects of 60Co gamma rays on the in vitro incorporation of palmitic acid in rat hepatic microsome lipids

  • 1. Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale (INSERM), Toulouse (France). Unite de Recherche sur la Biochimie des Lipides

Description

The gamma-rays of 60Co caused a diminution in the incorporation of palmitic acid in the phosphatidic acids and the neutral fats of rat-liver microsomes. This diminution occurred without morphological change in the microsomal membranes, where the enzymes responsible for this incorporation are situated. Some evidence is offered that lipid peroxides may be involved in this inhibition. (author)
