Description

A Born approximation calculation for vector-mesons interacting through quark- and gluon-exchange suggests that loosely bound deuteron-like 'molecule' states of vector-meson pairs may occur in the (I, JPC)=(0,0++), (0,2++), (1,0++) and (1,2++) S-wave (K*, anti K*, ωφ) and (K*anti K*, ρφ) systems below K*anti K* threshold. We tentatively identify the (0,0++) state with the θ(1720); this assignment explains several unusual properties of this resonance, including some strong branching fractions and couplings in ψ radiative decays. Tests of this model and decay channels in which we expect evidence of additional vector-meson bound states are discussed. (orig.)
