Preliminary activation analysis and radioactive waste classification for CFETR

Description

China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) is the next device in the roadmap for the realization of fusion energy in China. Based on the current engineering design of CFETR, detailed activation analysis for the major components of CFETR has been performed by using the Monte Carlo transport code MCNP4C and the inventory code FISPACT-2007. The key radiological parameters, such as activity inventory, decay heat, contact dose rate and dominant nuclides, have been obtained and analyzed. Meanwhile, based on the activation analysis results for CFETR and the radioactive waste classification criteria in China, preliminary radioactive waste classification for the major components of CFETR has been completed, and the recommendations to reduce the levels of radioactive waste generated by CFETR in-vessel components have been proposed. The activation analysis and waste classification results for CFETR can be used as data basis and support for shielding design, waste management and disposal, accident analysis, decommissioning strategy, etc.
