dHvA effect in actinide compounds
Description
DeHaas-vanAlphen data are presented for UIr3 and UGe3. Excellent agreement between experimental results and band structure calculations is observed in UIr3 while the agreement is less dramatic in UGe3. The f-bands at the Fermi level are hybridized with d-bands (UIr3) and p-bands (UGe3). Large mass enhancements are observed in both materials with lambda-values between 1.1 (UIr3) and 1.5 (UGe3). The larger value in UGe3 may reflect the many-body phenomena observed in the bulk properties. (author)
