Description

In this work, the amount of scattered dose generated in arc radiotherapy treatments for the treatment of medulloblastoma will be evaluated. This evaluation will be carried out on the tomotherapy and intensity modulated arc therapy (VMAT - RapidArc) systems. An Alderson and water type phantom, OSL (optically stimulated luminescence) dosimetry, dosimetric matrices for planning quality control and RTPS (radiotherapy treatment planning software) will be used. The treatment characterization will have similar parameters for planning in each system (treatment time, number of monitor units, 6 MV energy and conformation index). The dispersed dose in a radiotherapy treatment is made up of the secondary radiation due to the interaction of the photons with the target matter and the leakage radiation from the Linac compounds, so it is important to determine which of the arc systems conforms best. the dose and which of the systems generates less scattered dose to tissue that is not involved in the treatment.
