Description
Dichloroacetic acid (DCAA) and Trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) are two representatives of Haloacetic acids. DCAA and TCAA are the main by-products generated from Chlorine disinfection of drinking water and also threaten the health of human life seriously. The elimination of DCAA and TCAA in aqueous solutions by 60Co-γ irradiation was studied. The effect of different conditions on the removed degree of DCAA and TCAA, such as initial concentration, absorbed dose and irradiation aura was investigated respectively, using Ion Chromatography as measurement technology. The results showed that the concentration of DCAA and TCAA in aqueous solution greatly decreased after 60Co-γ irradiation. In addition, with the growth of absorbed dose, the concentration of chloride ion produced by irradiation increased gradually and pH of the solution declined. (authors)
