Reducing outage time at Indian Point 2

Description
Con Edison has developed and licensed with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) a technique that reduces outage time and avoids reactor shutdowns. This is accomplished via extension of the deviation limits and through on-line calibration of the rod position indicators (RPIs). The method also reduces the calibration time and man power and simplifies plant operations. This paper presents the concept, the analyses performed, the licensing activities, and the results obtained at the Indian Point 2 (IP2) nuclear power plant
