The composition and some properties of cadmium sulfide particles formed in the Cd2+-S2O32- system

Description
Cadmium sulfide was obtained as precipitate from an aqueous solution of cadmium salt by adding sodium thiosulfate homogeneously. Aging of the precipitate at 950C for five hours gave rise to reddish orange colored spherical particles of cadmium sulfide with the diameter between 5 to 15 μm. The grain size was decreased down to 2 μm by addition of ethanol during the precipitation reaction with the change in color into bright yellow. The spherical shape was kept up to 5500C in a nitrogen stream. (auth.)
