Improvement of superconductivity with the reduced anti-ferromagnetism in Zn-doped CuTl-1223 superconductors

Description

The effect of suppression of anti-ferromagnetic order with the substitution of Zn 3d10 (S=0) at Cu 3d9 (S=1/2) sites in CuO2 planes of Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3O10-δ (CuTl-1223) superconductors has been discussed. It has been demonstrated from the comparison of our results with the previously published data that Zn doping suppresses anti-ferromagnetism and enhances superconductivity. The decreased c-axis length with the increased Zn doping has been found to improve the interplane coupling and hence enhance the three-dimensional (3D) conductivity in the unit cell. The role of charge carriers in CuO2 planes of Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3-yZnyO10-δ in bringing about superconductivity has also been explained.
