Description
Modeling nuclear reactors is complex, requiring multiphysics solutions between neutronics, thermal hydraulics, and fuel behavior. A preliminary Serpent-MOOSE coupling has been created, with consistent results demonstrated for a single fuel element with simple diffusion. In parallel with this work, Functional Expansion Tallies (FETs) have been implemented in Serpent. These promise to ease mesh conversion for future coupling, as well as reduce error around bin boundaries and decrease memory requirements. (authors)
