Quantum effects in Kaluza-Klein theory with spontaneous compactification induced by a non-linear sigma model
Description
We evaluate the 1-loop potential for the scalar fields in the form of a non-linear sigma model in Kaluza-Klein theory. For the product manifold M4 x S3, it is shown that the classical solutions are stable against quantum fluctuations. (author)
