Description
Mixing of magnetic substates in polarized beams by off-axis magnetic fields is considered for cylindrically-symmetric fields. For constant field gradient along the symmetry axis, coupled linear differential equations describe the evolution of substate amplitudes. Sample solutions for spin-1/2 and spin-1 beams are given.
