Three-dimensional CT imaging of the jaw and the face

Description
Recent years saw the attempts to reconstruct and synthesize a sham three-dimensional image from several CT images. To this end, a software programme was developed called Three-dimensional Contour Reproduction Programme; i.e. a software designed to determine the contour of a specific tissue region in the CT image and to place a great number of these on top of each other to create the impression of a 3-D image. The authors report on the 3-D imaging of disorders in the maxillofacial region involving minor modifications to improve the working sequence. Method and results are described. (orig.)

Die mit Computertomographen erfassten Bilder sind zweidimensional. Soll die pathologische oder anatomische Struktur einzelner Organe jedoch in drei Dimensionen betrachtet werden, so geschieht dies ueberlicherweise auf mentalem Weg, indem das CT-Bild mit den davor und danach liegenden Scans verglichen oder auf anatomische Landmarken Bezug genommen wird.
