Elastic hadron scattering and total cross section in a multiple diffraction model

  • 1. Universidade Estadual de Campinas, SP (Brazil). Inst. de Fisica

Description

We analyse p p elastic scattering data at high energies (10 < √ (s) < 63 GeV) through a Multiple Diffraction Model. Total cross section extrapolations to cosmic ray energies show agreement with the reanalysis of the Akeno data performed by N.N. Nikolaev. Introducing a novel parametrization for the scattering amplitude we extract the Profile Function in a model independent way. Comparisons with the model predictions present good statistical agreement.
