Table top slow positron apparatus
Description
The characters of the compact, magnetically guided slow positron beam, which was constructed recently, are discussed. The system uses a 4 mCi 22Na source with a tungsten foil transmission moderator. The design of the compact electrostatic positron beam, whose construction is in progress, is shown. We calculated the slow positron yields from the tungsten foil moderator. It is shown that the conversion efficiency from fast to slow positrons is improved much in a modified geometry of moderators. That improvement is very useful for construction of the compact slow positron beam. (author)
