Description
The reactor concepts for Generation IV are supposed to be safe, clean and cheap. All these concepts are based on old designs. No prototype reactor has yet been built. The material problems are not solved. So called ''small molecular reactors'' should allow a modular reactor production quasi on assembly line. Euratom promotes research in the Joint research Center in Karlsruhe for instance with respect to the separation of weapon-grade U-233 from the fuel cycle of thorium-based molten salt cooled reactors.
