New route for the synthesis of cadmium sulfide by reacting of cadmium oxide with sulfidizing gas mixture

Description
The solid-gas sulfidizing of CdO with a gas mixture of carbonyl sulfide, COS, carbon disulfide, CS2, and sulfur, S2, was investigated. The reactions were performed at temperatures between 750 and 950 deg C. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the solid crystalline products revealed the stable greenockite form of CdS (hexagonal crystal system, space group P63mc, a=4.135 A, c=6.772 A), which was synthesized as first time via the reaction. When the sulfidizing reaction was carried out below 700 deg C, some unreacted CdO was encountered among the products. Sublimation of CdS was observed for the sulfidizing reactions performed at 1000 deg C or higher temperatures. Thus, the conditions for the synthesis of CdS with greenockite structure via sulfidizing reactions were optimized with respect to the process temperature (750 deg C) and duration (3 hr)

Исследовано сульфидирование CdO в системе газ-твердое с использованием газовой смеси, состоящей из карбонилсульфида, дисульфида углерода и серы. Реакции проводились при температурах 750-950 град C. Результаты рентгенографического исследования кристаллических продуктов показали образование CdS в виде стабильной формы гринокита (гексагональная сингония, пр. гр. P63mc, a=4.135, c=6.772 A), который был впервые получен по данной реакции. В случае проведения реакции сульфидирования при температуре ниже 700 град C в продуктах реакции было обнаружено некоторое количество непрореагировавшего CdO, а при температурах 1000 град C и выше наблюдалась сублимация CdS. Определены оптимальные условия синтеза CdS со структурой гринокита с использованием реакций сульфидирования, которые соответствуют следующим параметрам: температура - 750 град C, продолжительность - 3 часаAdditional details
