Introduction to neutron scattering
Description
In this paper a few introductory aspects of neutron scattering which enables to distinguish between coherent and incoherent scattering are discussed and it is shown that the intensity of inelastic scattering from oscillating particles is proportional to the square of the oscillation amplitudes. Then some phenomena of hydrogen in metals which can be investigated by neutron scattering are explained. Finally details of different neutron scattering instruments used in the research programs involving hydrogen in metals are elaborated. 9 refs., 7 figs
