Comparison of two types personnel neutron TLD dosimeters (Harshaw) for their use in Kazakhstan
Description
Full text: The thermoluminescence dosimetry is the most acceptable method of the The thermoluminescence dosimetry is the most acceptable method of the neutron radiation registration. Radiation laboratory KATEP-AE provides personal neutron dosimetry service with two types of neutron thermoluminescent dosimeters: type Harshaw TLD-7776/8814 and Harshaw TLD-6776/8806. We made intercomparison of these types dosimeters with Hungary Atomic Energy Institute. There are two types of neutron sources in the Republic of Kazakhstan- geophysical neutron sources of the fast neutrons and sources of thermal neutrons, such as LWR reactors. Therefore we take the similar neutron fields for irradiation of the dosimeters for intercomparison. The results of the intercomparison confirm that TLD-6776/8806 is better to use for personal neutron dosimetry in the geophysical companies and TLD-7776/8814 - for nuclear reactors such as WWR. For 3 years Radiation Laboratory KATEP-AE provides an individual radiation control of neutron doses for 400 people. 2500 measurements of neutron dosimeters have been done. Doses are registered: 237 doses up to 1 mSv, 18 doses from 1 to 10 mSv and 2 doses more than 10 mSv.n radiation registration.
