On the crystal structures of Yb5Ir3
Description
Ytterbium in its compounds is characterized by a singular valence behaviour. Depending on the partner element, it can give rise to compounds in which it is present in the divalent or trivalent state or in an intermediate valence state. Two phases were found in the composition range 30-40 at.% Ir of the Yb-Ir system. The authors present structural data of Yb5Ir3. (Auth.)
