Description

This paper reports that to aid industry responsible for developing materials and their associated new technology, there is a need to understand the cost and schedule basis for the Superconducting Super Collider. This includes how the estimates were developed, what they include, and what will be required to meet out project goals. The long term schedule, including major milestones, we intend to meet, and their driving factors are critical to the success of this project. The near term schedule, including the two-year plan for the Above Surface String Test (ASST) and Prototype Installation Facility (PIF), are current priorities for the Laboratory. A status report on land acquisition and construction will be presented, as well as a look at the SSC's organizational structure that will help guide this Laboratory as it grows into one of the world's leading high technology resources
