Photoelectric cross sections for X-ray photons in low- and medium-Z elements
Description
Total photon cross-section measurements are performed employing argon- and krypton-filled proportional counters in a modified good-geometry arrangement at seven photon energies in the region 5-45 keV on the elements C, Al, Sc, Ni, Y, Ag, Gd and Dy. The results in some of these elements are new. The total photoelectric cross sections are derived by subtracting the contributions of scattering and are compared with the recent theoretical compilations of Scofield. There appears to be a general agreement between theory and experiment. (orig.)
