Release of heat from the nuclear power plant Philippsburg

Description

The release of district heat from Block II of the nuclear power plant Philippsburg is technically feasible (18 MW from low pressure extraction) and forms basis for economical district heat supply (connected value 37 MW) to sections of the town of Philippsburg. Therefore it is shown that with adequate heat availability the supply of district heat is feasible under long term economical aspects even with otherwise unfavourable marginal conditions (as here for instance with low peak loads of ca. 30 MW, small rural township with low heat density and relatively long transport distances). Abstract (German)

Die Auskopplung von Fernwaerme aus dem Block II des Kernkraftwerks Philippsburg ist technisch realisierbar (18 MW aus den Niederdruckanzapfungen) und stellt die Grundlage fuer eine wirtschaftliche Fernwaermeversorgung (Anschlusswert 37 MW) von Teilbereichen der Stadt Philippsburg dar. Damit ist der Nachweis erbracht, dass die Fernwaerme bei geeignetem Waermeangebot auch unter ansonsten unguenstigen Randbedingungen (wie in diesem Fall kleiner Hoechstlasten mit rd. 30 MW, laendliche Kleinstadt mit niedriger Waermedichte, relativ hohe Transportentfernungen) mit nachhaltig guten wirtschaftlichen Ergebnissen realisierbar ist.
