Knock-out of protons from light nuclei by 170 MeV π+ mesons

Description
The (π+, π+ p) reaction on carbon oxygen nuclei is studied by the nuclear photoemulsion method at 170 MeV energy of π+ mesons. Authors have obtained the integral cross section of the reaction, the momentum and angular distributions of the residual nuclei, the energy angular spectra of protons, the differential cross section of scattering of π+ mesons. The results are compared with predictions of the dispersion theory of direct nuclear reactions. The direct knock-out is shown to be a dominant mechanism
