Share of Fluctuating RES Power Plants and Reserve in Power Plants' installed Capacity

Creators

Description

This paper examines dependency on energy import of various members of ENTSO-E, analyses reasons for large energy import dependency in Croatia, examines the share of reserves in the total capacity of power plants that cover peak load in regard to the generation shares of variable RES power plants in the total electricity consumption and peak load coverage of continuous power plants. Lastly, an assessment is made on the maximum possible generation of the existing power plants in Croatia and their possible peak load coverage. At the end, the confidence in various power plant types is described, both on variable and non-variable energy sources of expendable and renewable energy sources. All the results are based on the yearly ENTSO-E report for 2015 (for European countries) and on the Energy in Croatia in 2015 report, published by Energy Institute Hrvoje Pozar. (author).
