Nature of the lower superconducting transition in UPt3

Creators

Description

A theory of the transition within the superconducting phase of UPt3 is formulated using the Ginzburg-Landau theory of an E1 superconductor. The solution for field in the basal plane is given as an example. The transition is second order, and the discontinuities in specific heat and susceptibility are calculated. The flux lattice is centered rectangular on both sides of the transition, but the form factor undergoes a second-order change, as do signatures for nuclear magnetic relaxation and muon spin relaxation
