Description

UFe5Sn is isostructural to the orthorhombic Ucu5In and CeCu5Au ternaries [1J. The normalized to the a axis ratios a : b : c are: 1 : 0.6 : 1.29. Previous magnetic studies on the polycrystalline [1] and single-crystalline [2] samples have established the ferromagnetic properties of this compound with the occurrence of two transitions at 180 and 248 K. A suggestion of the Curie temperature being above room temperature and eventual presence of UFe2-x impurities (Tc = 147-195 K) justifying the former transition has also been given. In this poster we present the data of detailed measurements of magnetization, heat capacity, electrical resistivity and magnetoresistivity as well as of thermopower and thermal conductivity performed on single-crystalline samples cut out along the main crystallographic directions from a large single crystal. Synthesis of the cylindrical single crystal with the b axis being the cylinder axis were obtained by the Czochralski pulling method in a radio-frequency induction furnace
